Event
The event will take place at the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI), in a large lecture theater within the main building of the institute.
Welcome Reception
The Welcome Reception will be held on Sunday evening September 8, 2024, at 18:00 in the gallery in the main building of JSI. Participants and guests will have opportunities to enjoy local food and drinks and to make new acquaintances and renew old ones.
Symposium Dinner
The Symposium Dinner will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 19:00 at Gostilna na Gradu, which is located at Ljubljana castle. There is a new culinary experience every day at Gostilna na Gradu, where you can partake of typical Slovenian dishes prepared in a contemporary style. All dishes will be especially created for the occasion by master chefs under the guidance of chef Luka Jezeršek and kitchen manager Sebastjan Elbl.
Tour of Ljubljana
Following the end of the Boris Žemva symposium on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, a walking tour of Ljubljana will be available to interested symposium participants and their guests. The tour will be at no cost for symposium participants. During the tour, an experienced guide will escort participants to the most important historical sights in the city center.

Accomodation
Please note that the conference organizers do not cover the costs of accommodation for conference participants.
We recommend that you look for accommodation near the center of Ljubljana, where most of the hotels are located. Although the Boris Žemva Symposium will take place at the Jožef Stefan Institute (Jamova 39, Ljubljana), approximately 2.5 km from the city center, it is easily accessible by taxi (approx. cost €5 – €10), public transport, bicycle or on foot (see Travel Information).
Accompanying events such as the Symposium Dinner and the Tour of Ljubljana will take place near the city center.
You may organize the accommodation by use of popular accommodation search websites, such as Booking.com or make your reservation directly with a hotel of your choice. All hotels near the center of Ljubljana can be found on tourist information websites such as VisitLjubljana.com.
Please note that Ljubljana is a popular tourist destination, so hotels may be fully booked in September. To get a good price for your accommodation, we recommend that you book as early as possible.

Getting Here
Ljubljana is easy to reach by plane, train, bus or car.
If you are travelling by plane:
Ljubljana Airport – Letališče Jožeta Pučnika is located 23 km (approx. 30 minutes) outside the capital, Ljubljana. All information about flights, the airport and transport can be found on the website: Lju-Airport.si.
You can reach Ljubljana from Ljubljana Airport by:
- Taxi, with fares ranging from €35 – €50.
- There are also several shuttle services that usually charge between €15 per person (for shared rides) and €50 per person (for individual rides) to the city center. For an example see: GoOpti airport transfer.
- Bus – there is a regular bus service to Ljubljana’s main bus station (once an hour, last bus at 8 pm). Tickets for a one-way journey cost approx. €4.

If you are travelling by train
The train station is located near the center of Ljubljana. From there you can get to the Jožef Stefan Institute by taxi (approx. €10) or by local buses (see below). If you are travelling by international bus
Long-distance buses stop at the central bus station, which is located near the center of Ljubljana and opposite the train station. From there you can take a taxi (approx. €10) or local buses (see below) to the Jožef Stefan Institute. To obtain information about bus services, please visit the website: AP-Ljubljana.si, or call 1991 – INFO Centre, which is open MONDAY – FRIDAY: 7:00 – 20:00; SATURDAY, SUNDAY and public holidays: 8:00 – 16:00.
Getting around Ljubljana
By Taxi
You can easily find a vacant taxi near the center of Ljubljana. Charges are usually lower when taxis are ordered by phone. In any case, it is advisable to enquire about the fare before the ride. By local buses
In Ljubljana, local transport is provided by buses (Ljubljanski Potniški Promet – LPP). The fare (€1.30) can be paid directly on the bus (cards only, Apple pay, Google pay). The Urbana City Card can also be used.
City bus lines 1 and 6 run through the city center and stop near the JSI:
– For bus line 1 (Vižmarje – Mestni Log), get off at the ”Jadranska” stop, which is located directly in front of the entrance to the JSI.
– For bus line 6 (Črnuče – Dolgi most), get off at the ”Stan in dom” stop. The JSI is located about 200 meters along Jadranska street.
On foot or by BicikeLJ (self-service bike hire)
You can also get from the center of Ljubljana to the Jožef Stefan Institute on foot or by bike. It is an approx. 25-minute walk or up to a 15-minute bike ride. The subscription for BicikeLJ costs €1 per week or €3 per year. Detailed directions, depending on which direction you are coming from, can be obtained from on websites such as Google Maps, Travelmath, etc.
